__The week of 3/12-3/16__

About the week: We are still reviewing for the Milestones. The students have started to practice writing math constructed responses. All review material is being written in the student's Milestone Review Notebook, which will go home the Friday before Spring Break. The only homework will be to complete the week 11 weekly sheet (given to each student on Tuesday).

**Cyber Day- March 7th**The students will log into KhanAcademy.org, using their gmail account. Go to the "Coaches" tab and enter the class code YDW565HT. After adding me as a coach, the assigned lessons will appear on the students homepage. The students can then pick any two of the following practice assignments to complete:

1. Multiply decimals like 0.6 x 0.4 (First watch the video "Intro to Multiplying Decimals")

2. Multiply decimals like 0.56 x 4 (First watch the video "Intro to Multiplying Decimals")

3. Add fractions with unlike denominators (First watch the video"Adding fractions with unlike denominators")

4. Subtracting fractions with unlike denominators (First watch the video "Subtracting fractions with unlike denominators")

Note: We are currently preparing for Milestones and to keep in line with the current domain that we are reviewing in class, be sure to complete

**two**assignments from the list above. Feel free to review other lessons already added to your homepage on KhanAcademy.

__The week of 3/5- 3/9__

About the week: Now that we have finished all of the 5th grade math standards, we will spend the next four weeks reviewing standards in order to prepare for the Milestone. On Friday, the students created Milestone Review Notebooks, which will be used in class every day. Each day the students will be given old Milestone questions to copy and solve in their review notebooks. At the end of the four weeks, the students will have a selection of review problems from each domain in order to study over Spring Break to best prepare for the Milestone.

The only homework for this week is to complete the week 10 weekly sheet. The weekly sheet is due next Monday.

About the week: This week the students will continue to practice graphing images on the coordinate plane. No homework this week. A quiz on graphing on the coordinate grid will be on Wednesday.

The week of 2/19- 2/23

About the week: This week the students will learn how to create a coordinate grid and how to graph images on a coordinate grid. The students will create their own study guide by copying questions from a class copy. The students will take the Coordinate Grid quiz on Friday.

About the week: This week the students will take their Polygons quiz on Monday. The students will learn how to calculate volume using models and formulas. Study guide will be completed in class on Wednesday. Geometry test on Tuesday, February 20th. STEAM day will be Friday.

About the week: This week the students will learn how to classify 2-D figures. The students will also learn how to measure sides and angles using a protractor. No math homework this week. Just finish the week 6 weekly sheet by next Monday.

__The week of 1/22- 1/26__

About the week: This week the students will continue to learn how to convert metric units of mass and capacity.

On Wednesday, the students will create their own study guide, by copying questions from a class copy. The answers will be reviewed at the end of class. Please ask your child to see their copy of the study guide (12 questions.) . The measurement quiz will be on Thursday and will mirror the same model as the study guide.

About the week: Last week the students learned customary units of conversions. This week the students will learn metric units of conversions. The students will learn how to convert metric units of length, mass, and capacity.

Use the online math textbook login for specific metric conversion charts that will be given in class.

The Fractions Performance Task is due on Monday. Extra class time will be given on Monday to finish the Performance Task. The Fractions chapter test will be on Thursday. Afterwards, we will begin reviewing for the math final exam.

About the week: This week the students will learn how to solve math problems using Order of Operations. The students will also learn how to write numerical math expressions from word problems. In addition the students will identify patterns from given scenarios. On Thursday, the students will create their own study guide by copying practice questions from a class copy. After the students have written and solved each problem, we will review the answers in class. Numerical Expressions Quiz will be on Friday.

About the week: This week the students will learn how to divide with decimals. The students will create their own study guide in class on Thursday, by copying the problems from a class copy. About the week: This week the students will continue to learn to add and subtract with decimals. The students will also learn how to use addition properties to solve problems with decimal operations. The students will have a quiz on Wednesday to assess their knowledge of adding and subtracting with decimals. A make-up for the Division quiz will also be offered on Wednesday. The remainder of the week the students will learn how to multiply with decimals.

About the week: This week the students will finalize the Math PBL, in class. The Unit I Test will be on Tuesday and the Math PBL presentations will be in class on Wednesday. Thursday and Friday the students will learn how to add and subtract decimals.

About the week: Now that we have finished Unit I, the students are ready to begin working on their math PBL word problems. The students will also write a copy of the Unit I study guide in their math notebook in order to study for the Unit I test, scheduled for Tuesday, October 12th

The students will be given a new weekly sheet on Monday. Weekly sheets are always glued into the notebook and are due the following Monday. This gives the student a week to complete a 4 day review sheet. Every Monday, we review the answers to the weekly sheet given the week prior. Every Tuesday, the students will have a 10 question assessment on the weekly sheet (open notes). Most Fridays the students will have an assessment about the lesson taught during the week.
